There are different types of rewires available, these are Surface Mounted- We install plastic trunking to sockets and switches etc and fit surface mounted pattress boxes, to me, this is unsightly but it is the cheapest and easiest option. The other is Recessed- We would chase out walls where new cables and back boxes would be installed, install the new cables/boxes and then plaster over them. This looks a lot better but it is far more expensive.
A typical recessed version on a standard 3 bedroom house with no-one living in it could be around £7’500 to complete.
